How did the Aztecs solve problems?

Back in the time when Aztecs thrived, there are still similar aspects to modern life. One example is taxes. The king wanted to make sure that his people are giving him the exact amount of tribute that he wanted, so they devised a number system made up of what you would call "weird" symbols. Some examples are: a dot for 1, a bar for 5, and plenty of other seemingly random group of symbols that make up the Aztec's precious taxing (and counting) algorithm. Surprisingly, the math was very advanced for its time, leaving other pre-Colombian mathematics in the dust. They used a system called vigesimal, which used 20 for a base instead of zero.
What you all wanted: THE CALENDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
What is surprising is that this civilization actually used 3 calenders, of which the most important went by the name Tonalpohualli. This calender had 260 days, with the names of 20 gods etched on it. The number 1-13 was associated with one god, sort of like a week. This calender showed the important events that the Aztecs had to participate in. Another thing is, they used a calender with 365 days in it, almost exactly like our calender, except instead of 28-31 days in a month, there are 18 20-day months, with 5 days left over. There was also a long count calender that marked every 52 years, when the Aztecs had to light the New Fire
